Previously: When Olivia forced a quiet girl in an olive dress to scrub the marble floors, she thought she was just putting a maid in her place. She had no idea who she was truly insulting.

The Price of Arrogance

For months, Sophia had chosen to live quietly, preferring to keep a low profile and work alongside the household staff to stay grounded after their grandfather's passing. She had never cared for the flashy luxury that Olivia craved. But Olivia’s cruelty toward the staff, and finally toward Sophia herself, had pushed William past his limit. He had tolerated his fiancée's superficiality, but her malicious arrogance was something he could not ignore.

Olivia scrambled forward, stepping right into the spilled wine and dirty water, her desperate eyes pleading with Sophia.

"Sophia, please! I didn’t know! I swear, if I had known who you were, I would never have treated you that way!"
she cried, her voice cracking with desperation. She reached out to grab Sophia's hand, but William stepped in the way, blocking her.

Sophia looked at Olivia, her expression remarkably calm. There was no anger in her eyes, only a profound sense of pity.

"That is exactly the problem, Olivia,"
Sophia said softly, her voice carrying a quiet authority that silenced the room.
"You only show respect to people you think can do something for you. You treat everyone else like they are beneath you. You don't deserve my brother, and you certainly don't deserve to live in this house."

William looked at his sister and nodded, his decision final. He turned back to Olivia.

"I've canceled the wedding, the credit cards, and your lease on the car. You have one hour to pack your things and leave,"
he commanded. Olivia stood frozen, realizing that her dreams of wealth and high society had vanished in an instant because of her own cruelty.

As Olivia walked out of the mansion doors for the last time, Sophia and William stood side by side in the grand foyer. True nobility is never defined by the wealth we display, but by the kindness and respect we show to those who have nothing to offer us in return.
