Previously: A ruthless art professor destroys his student's painting, only to discover it's a priceless masterpiece. The ensuing chaos reveals a shocking truth and a life-changing opportunity.

An Unexpected Arrival

Just as the weight of Jason's pronouncements threatened to crush me, the heavy brass double doors of the gallery slammed open. A gust of wind and rain swept in, followed by two figures who commanded immediate attention. Henri Delacroix, the Chief Curator of the Louvre, and Evelyn Reed, a Senior Director from Sotheby's, burst in, their expensive coats soaked by the storm. Their eyes, sharp and discerning, locked onto the scene before them – Jason, the palette knife still in hand, and my ruined painting.

"Stop this madness immediately! Where is the master, Arthur?"

Henri's voice was a commanding, breathless urgency. His gaze swept past Jason, landing on me, then on the torn canvas. Jason froze, his smug grin replaced by a look of dumbfounded shock. He hadn't anticipated this interruption, nor the attention it would draw.

A Masterpiece Revealed

Henri Delacroix didn't hesitate. He rushed past a stunned Jason, falling to his knees on the polished marble floor before the easel. His trembling, leather-gloved hands hovered reverently just above the thick, textured oil impasto of my painting. Evelyn Reed moved with steely authority, positioning herself between Jason and me. She snapped open an official red-leather Sotheby's dossier, her movements precise and businesslike.

"This is an extraordinary modern masterpiece of tragic genius!"

Henri breathed, his voice filled with awe. He looked at me, his eyes wide with disbelief and admiration. I could only blink, a fresh wave of tears welling, not of sadness this time, but of a dawning, unbelievable hope. Evelyn thrust a certified cashier's check directly into the frame, its stark white a beacon in the dramatic lighting.

"The Louvre and Sotheby's jointly offer ten million dollars in cash for your entire private collection, Miss Arthur!"

Her words hung in the air, echoing the storm's fury. Jason's jaw dropped slack, his face ashen. His bulging eyes darted between the check, the torn canvas, and me, a look of sick horror and dawning humiliation spreading across his features. He had tried to destroy me, but he had only revealed my true worth.
