Previously: At a high-society gala, a brilliant autistic orderly's keen observation clashes with a renowned surgeon's arrogance, leading to a life-or-death confrontation over a child's mysterious illness.

With calm, detached finality, Jack extracted an ampule of methylene blue from the banquet's emergency kit. He expertly flushed the boy's IV line. Instantly, a rosy flush returned to the child's cheeks. A sharp, gasping breath of life escaped the boy's lips, and the ballroom erupted in gasps of awe. Dr. Knox's unused epinephrine injector lay forgotten on the marble floor, a symbol of his hubris.

“His oxygenation is stabilized,” Jack said, his voice quiet, his eyes still not meeting Knox's. “Chief Knox, you should surrender your surgical license before morning rounds.”

Dr. Knox's knees wobbled. He swallowed hard, the weight of his irreversible career devastation pressing down on him under the glaring ballroom chandeliers. His arrogance had blinded him, nearly costing a child his life. But the night was far from over for Jack.

Dr. Knox, consumed by a burning need to salvage his reputation and avoid professional ruin, initiated a relentless campaign against Jack. He publicly decried Jack's actions as reckless endangerment, fueling a media frenzy that painted the orderly as a dangerous meddler. The hospital administrator, caught between Knox's considerable influence and Jack's undeniable life-saving intervention, faced immense pressure. Jack was called into a meeting, Knox present, smug and confident. Knox demanded Jack's termination, threatening to withdraw hospital funding and pursue legal action. The administrator, her face etched with conflict, revealed the hospital's precarious position. Jack felt a wave of despair; his career, built on a passion for helping others, seemed poised to shatter before it truly began. Yet, as he looked at the boy's recovering face in his mind's eye, a quiet resolve hardened within him. He wouldn't be silenced. He wouldn't let Knox's ego destroy him. He knew Knox's desperate attempts to cover his mistake were rooted in fear, and fear could be a powerful weapon against arrogance. The fight for his license, and his future, had just begun.
