A Biker Mocked An Old Man's Cane, Unaware Of Who Was On The Phone
Previously: When a ruthless biker stole Walter's cane in a local diner, he expected a helpless old man. He had no idea Walter’s simple phone call would summon a force he couldn't stop.
The Gathering of the Vanguard
Outside the diner, Roy and his gang stood around their motorcycles, tossing Walter's cane between them like a toy. They thought they had won a petty game, completely unaware of the storm brewing on the horizon. Inside, the waitress rushed to Walter’s table, her hands trembling as she wiped up the spilled water. She begged Walter to slip out through the back door before Roy decided to come back inside for more trouble.
Walter simply smiled, thanking her gently, and took a slow sip of his fresh coffee. He knew what was coming. Less than ten minutes later, a low, tectonic rumble began to shake the diner’s foundation. The salt shakers vibrated on the tables, and the hanging lamps swayed. Roy’s mocking laughter died down as he turned toward the highway. Over the crest of the hill, a massive wall of blinding headlights pierced the dusk.
Twenty heavy, black motorcycles rode in perfect formation, their engines roaring like thunder. They swarmed the diner's parking lot, completely surrounding Roy and his stunned crew. These were not young, reckless thugs; these were seasoned, older men with hard eyes and weathered leather jackets bearing the original patch of the Iron Vanguard—the legendary motorcycle club that had ruled the state decades ago.
At the front of the pack was Marcus, a towering man with a gray beard and a scar running down his cheek. He shut off his engine, stepped down, and walked directly up to Roy. Roy tried to puff out his chest, but his knees were visibly shaking against the overwhelming presence of twenty legendary riders who had built the very roads they stood on.
"You boys seem to have lost your manners," Marcus said, his voice a low growl that commanded instant silence. "And you're holding something that doesn't belong to you."
Roy swallowed hard, looking around at the wall of iron and leather surrounding him. He realized too late that the quiet old man inside the diner was not as helpless as he seemed.
