Justice Served

Panic seized Julian. He scrambled, a desperate, flailing figure in his expensive tuxedo, lunging towards the multimedia console, his hands reaching to sever the connections, to silence the damning evidence. But his own lawyer, a man who had likely benefited handsomely from Julian’s ruthlessness, stepped back, dropping Julian’s litigation binder onto the polished parquet floor with a resounding slap. Open disgust was etched on his face. “Turn it off, cut the server feeds, I’ll pay you fifty million dollars!” Julian shrieked, his voice a hoarse, desperate rasp. But it was too late. The feed was live, broadcasting his primal rage to a court that valued truth above all else. I stood tall, my spine unbending, a calm, vindicated smile gracing my lips. Julian, the man who believed himself untouchable, was roughly seized, his arms yanked behind his back, the sharp, metallic click of handcuffs echoing the finality of his downfall. His knees buckled, and he crumpled to the floor, a broken man. “Your billions couldn’t buy her soul, Julian,” I said, my voice carrying through the stunned silence. “You’re finished.” His lower lip quivered, his hollow eyes locked on mine, filled with a ruinous, irreversible humiliation. The teddy bear, the silent witness, lay innocently on the table, a testament to the fact that sometimes, the smallest things hold the greatest power. Justice, it turned out, had a soft, brown, plush exterior.
