My Boss Tried to Publicly Humiliate Me, Not Knowing My Father Was a General
Previously: When a corrupt contractor tried to publicly humiliate Lauren by shaving her head on a military base, he had no idea she was an undercover investigator—or who her father was.
The General's Arrival
The soldiers froze instantly, the clippers still humming inches from Lauren's head. A fleet of black armored SUVs tore across the gravel lot, kicking up a massive cloud of dust that shrouded the concrete pad. They screeched to a halt in a perfect tactical formation, blocking all exits. From the vehicles, heavily armed federal agents emerged, their rifles trained directly on Jason and the corrupt military police officers.
From the lead SUV, a tall man in a pristine dress uniform stepped out. The silver stars on his shoulders gleamed in the harsh sunlight. It was Major General Robert Vance, the commander of the entire eastern military district. He marched forward, his face a mask of absolute thunder.

Jason’s smug expression instantly evaporated. He stammered, trying to find his words. "General Vance! Sir, thank goodness you're here. We caught this civilian clerk infiltrating secure databases. She's a spy, sir! We were just containing her until we could transfer her to holding."
General Vance didn't even acknowledge Jason's existence. He walked straight past him, his eyes locked on Lauren. He looked at her bound hands, the bruise forming on her cheek, and the patch of shaved hair on her head. The General's jaw clenched, a vein pulsing in his temple.
"Release her. Immediately," the General commanded, his voice vibrating with controlled fury.
The two MPs scrambled to cut the zip-ties, their hands shaking so violently they nearly dropped their knives. As soon as her hands were free, Lauren stood up straight, rubbing her wrists. She looked at Jason, whose face had gone completely pale.
"I told you," Lauren said softly, her voice carrying across the silent yard. "I am Captain Lauren Vance, Criminal Investigation Division. And you are under arrest for treason and grand larceny."
Realizing his entire empire was crumbling, Jason panicked. In a desperate, final act of cowardice, he lunged toward the nearest MP, grabbing the soldier's sidearm from its holster and aiming it straight at the General.
