Previously: When a snobbish boutique owner humiliates a disheveled woman looking at a wedding gown, she has no idea the stranger holds a secret that will destroy her career.

The Stolen Masterpiece

The mocking laughter of the women inside sliced through Clara, but instead of breaking her, it ignited a spark she thought had died in the fire three years ago. She stared intensely at the floral lace pattern. It wasn't just a beautiful design; it was the Evelyn gown, the crown jewel of the collection she had designed before her world went up in flames. Victoria had been her quiet, unassuming assistant back then. After the fire that took Clara's husband and her studio, Victoria had claimed Clara’s portfolio was lost. Now, the truth was staring her in the face.

"This is my dress," Clara said, her voice rising, shaking off the submissive tone. "I designed this. You stole my sketches, Victoria!"

Victoria’s face turned pale for a fraction of a second before hardening into pure malice. "You are completely insane," Victoria hissed. "Security! Get this delusional woman off our property!"

Two burly security guards grabbed Clara’s arms, dragging her away. Clara struggled, screaming the truth, but the onlookers only shook their heads in pity. Just as the guards were about to push her onto the pavement, a sleek black limousine pulled up to the curb. A distinguished older gentleman in a tailored charcoal suit stepped out. It was Arthur Vance, Clara’s late husband’s uncle and a powerful billionaire investor who funded the boutique.

Arthur froze as his eyes landed on Clara. "Clara? Is that really you?" he gasped, rushing forward.

Victoria hurried to Arthur’s side, her face twisting into a sycophantic smile. "Mr. Vance, I am so sorry about this. This homeless woman is causing a scene, claiming she designed our exclusive headline gown. We are handling it."

Arthur ignored Victoria entirely. He ordered the guards to release Clara, stepping closer to her. "Clara, where have you been? We searched for you for months after the tragedy," he said softly. Clara pointed a trembling finger at the window. "Arthur, that is my Evelyn gown. She stole it from my portfolio."
