A Boy Halts My Daughter's Funeral With a Terrifying Truth That Saves Her
Previously: During his daughter's rainy funeral, Richard is stopped by an eleven-year-old boy who claims the girl is still alive—and that Richard's wife is behind it all.
The Stepmother's Secret
The graveyard fell into a deathly quiet, save for the patter of rain on fabric. Sarah stepped forward, her voice trembling but sharp.
"Richard, please. This is highly inappropriate,"she said, gesturing toward Leo.
"The boy is traumatized. He’s imagining things because he can't accept that Maya is gone. Security, please take him away."
But Richard didn't move. He looked from his wife’s pale, tense face to Leo’s fierce, unblinking gaze. He remembered how suddenly Maya had fallen ill. It had started with a mild fever, and within hours, she was declared dead of sudden respiratory failure. The doctors had been baffled, but Sarah had insisted on a quick burial, sobbing that she couldn't bear the thought of an autopsy defiling her sweet stepdaughter's body.
"What did you see, Leo?"Richard asked, his voice dangerously low.
"Two nights ago, before Maya got sick,"Leo sobbed,
"I looked through her bedroom window to leave a walkie-talkie. I saw Mrs. Sarah putting a white powder from a tiny blue vial into Maya's hot cocoa. Maya drank it, and then she fell. Mrs. Sarah didn't call 911 right away. She just stood there and watched her!"
Sarah’s eyes widened in panic.
"He's lying! This is a sick fantasy!"she screamed, her polished facade completely shattering. She grabbed Richard's arm.
"We need to bury our daughter, Richard! Let her rest!"
Richard looked at Sarah's frantic grip, then at the white coffin. The instinct of a father, buried under days of numb grief, suddenly roared to life. He pushed Sarah's hand away and stepped toward the casket.
"Stop the burial,"Richard commanded the pallbearers.
"Open the coffin. Now."
”"Open the coffin. Now."
