The two collectors looked at Marcus, then at the rest of the bikers who had now surrounded them. The bravado they usually carried vanished instantly. Realizing they were completely outnumbered and outmatched by the most feared motorcycle club in the state, the lead collector swallowed hard and slowly raised his hands.

"We don't want any trouble, Marcus,"

he stammered, taking a step backward toward the cold night air outside.

Marcus stepped forward, his boots heavy on the checkerboard floor. He leaned down, his face inches from the collector's.

"Then you go back to Silas,"

Marcus rumbled, his voice dripping with quiet menace.

"You tell him that Leo's family debt is settled. If I see any of your boys within a mile of this kid, his brother, or their mother's clinic again, we won't just talk. Do you understand me?"

The collector nodded frantically, and within seconds, both men scrambled out of the diner, disappearing into the dark night.

A heavy silence fell over the diner, broken only by the hum of the neon lights. Leo stood frozen, his mind trying to process the sudden shift from absolute terror to overwhelming relief. He looked down at Lily, tears welling in his eyes.

"How did you know?"

he whispered. Lily smiled, pulling him into a tight embrace.

"I saw the messages on your phone when you were asleep, Leo. You were trying to carry the world on your shoulders. But my uncle Marcus always says that a burden shared is a burden broken."

Marcus walked over, clapping a massive hand onto Leo's shoulder, nearly knocking the wind out of him.

"Now, sit down and finish your burger, son,"

the biker leader smiled.

"We've got a lot of catching up to do."
