A Whispered Truth in the Graveyard

The cold autumn wind swept through the quiet cemetery, rustling the damp fallen leaves that clung to the earth. Clara knelt by the pristine marble tombstone, her black trench coat offering little warmth against the chill. Her husband, David, sat beside her in his navy blazer, his head bowed in a familiar, heavy silence. For three years, this spot had been their sanctuary of sorrow. On the marble, a vintage photograph of their twin boys smiled back at them—a cruel reminder of the life they had lost before it even began.

Suddenly, a soft rustle broke the quiet. Standing just a few feet away was a little girl no older than six, her blonde pigtails bouncing slightly in the breeze. She wore a faded green dress that seemed to belong to another era. She wasn't crying; she was simply staring at the photograph with an eerie intensity.

Before Clara could speak, the girl pointed a tiny finger at the picture.

"They're not gone," she whispered.

David gasped, his entire body freezing. He looked up, his face turning pale under the overcast natural light.

"What did you say?" he asked, his voice trembling.

The camera of Clara's mind locked onto the girl’s calm, unblinking eyes.

"They stay with me," Lily replied simply.

Clara felt a cold shiver run down her spine. A desperate, terrifying hope flared in her chest. She gasped in shock, clutching David's arm.

"Who?" Clara asked, her voice cracking.

Lily pointed once more to the vintage photo of the twins.

"Both of them," she said.

David stood up, stepping closer to the child, his eyes wide with an urgent, desperate hunger for answers.

"Where?" David asked.

Lily began to turn away, her small feet stepping lightly over the damp leaves.

"At the orphanage," she replied.

Clara’s eyes filled with fresh tears as she stared at the girl. David desperately pleaded, his voice breaking.

"Take us there."

David desperately pleaded, his voice breaking."Take us there."
