The Shocking Discovery

The grand white marble atrium of the newly purchased estate was usually a symbol of Peter’s hard-earned success. Stately columns rose toward the vaulted ceiling, reflecting the bright afternoon light. Peter, dressed in his classic brown tweed suit and carrying his dark leather attaché, walked through the heavy oak doors. He expected to find his fiancée, Penelope, planning their upcoming wedding. Instead, he was met with a scene that made his stomach turn.

A young woman in a simple, faded beige dress was kneeling on the cold, wet floor. Her hands were raw as she frantically scrubbed a dark red spill from the pristine marble. She was trembling, her head bowed in shame. Peter stopped in his tracks, a wave of shock washing over him. Before he could process the sight, a sharp voice echoed through the vast hall.

"She's just doing what she's good at, cleaning."

Penelope stepped out from behind a massive column. She was wearing a dark green designer dress and holding a half-empty wine glass. A smug, self-satisfied smile played on her lips as she looked down at the kneeling girl. She deliberately tilted her glass, letting a few drops of red wine splash right next to the girl's hands, forcing her to start scrubbing all over again.

Peter felt a surge of hot fury. But as the kneeling girl looked up in fear, Peter's heart stopped. The delicate features, the familiar green eyes—it was Rose, his younger sister who had gone missing ten years ago after their parents' tragic passing. He had searched for her for a decade, only to find her being treated like an animal by his own fiancée.

With trembling hands, Peter pulled his phone from his pocket and pressed it to his ear. He didn't hesitate for a second.

"Cancel everything. Now!" he demanded coldly.

Penelope’s smug expression instantly shattered. "What?" she gasped, her face pale. Peter stared at her with pure ice in his eyes. "This house is no longer yours," he said into the phone, before lowering it with a stern, unforgiving glare.
