A Cruel Receptionist Ignored My Sick Daughter, Unaware Of My True Identity
Previously: When a heartless hospital receptionist refused to help a little girl in agonizing pain, she had no idea the girl's father held the power to end her career instantly.
A Sudden Collapse
Before Mark could argue further, Lily’s knees buckled. With a soft gasp, she collapsed onto the hard hospital floor, unconscious. Mark caught her just in time, cradling her small body in his arms. "Lily! Lily, look at me!" he cried out, panic rising in his chest. He looked up at Brenda, his eyes flashing with fury. "Get a medical team out here right now! She is unresponsive!"
Instead of rushing to help, Brenda reached for the desk phone, her expression hardening. "I am calling security to have you escorted out for causing a scene," she cold-bloodedly declared. But before she could dial, the double doors behind her swung open. Dr. Charles Vance, the hospital’s Chief of Medicine, stepped into the lobby, alerted by the commotion.
Dr. Vance’s eyes widened as he took in the scene. He bypassed Brenda entirely and knelt beside the frantic father. "What happened?" he asked, before suddenly freezing. He looked up at the man in the grey overcoat. "Dr. Sterling? Marcus? What on earth are you doing here?"
Brenda froze, the telephone receiver hovering inches from her ear. "Dr. Vance, this man is being extremely disruptive..." she began, her voice faltering. Dr. Vance snapped his head toward her, his face dark with anger. "Quiet, Brenda! Do you have any idea who this is? This is Dr. Marcus Sterling, our new Chief of Pediatric Surgery. He starts on Monday."
