The courtroom of Judge Diana was suffocatingly quiet. Clara, the gentle nanny who had raised nineteen-year-old Audrey like her own daughter, sat trembling at the defense table. She stood accused of administering a fatal dose of medication to Arthur, a wealthy real estate developer and Audrey's father. Sitting across the aisle was Melissa, Arthur’s second wife, dressed in flawless mourning black, looking confident alongside her slick attorney, Joseph.

Just as the prosecution prepared to deliver its closing remarks, the heavy double doors of the courtroom flew open. Audrey stood in the doorway. Her dirty-blonde hair was disheveled, and her mint-green dress was wrinkled, but her eyes burned with absolute certainty.

"My nanny didn't kill my father!"
