The DNA Report That Destroyed My Fiancée’s Perfect Lie
Previously: My fiancée swore my daughter wasn't mine. Then six-year-old Maya handed me a sealed forensic dossier. The truth shattered everything—and the guard's handcuffs were just the beginning.
The Butler's Smirk and the Second Forgery
Three days after Sabrina's arrest, the mansion felt different. The silence was heavier, the shadows longer. Maya had stopped asking about Sabrina, but I saw the way she flinched every time a door creaked. I couldn't blame her.
I was in my study, reviewing the forensic report again, when the butler, Edward, entered with a tray of coffee. He had served my father before me, a loyal man in his sixties with silver hair and a stoic demeanor. But tonight, something was off.

“Sir,” he said, setting the tray down, “there is a visitor asking to see you. She says she has information about Miss Sabrina.”
I looked up. “Who is she?”
“A nurse from the hospital, sir. She looks—terrified.”
I followed Edward to the foyer, where a woman in a worn coat stood wringing her hands. She introduced herself as Alice, a maternity ward nurse. “Mr. Castellano,” she said, her voice shaking, “I need to tell you the truth. I was the one who helped Sabrina switch the tags. But I wasn't the only one.”
My blood ran cold. “Who else?”
She glanced at Edward, who stood rigid by the door. “He knows,” she whispered. “Ask him.”
I turned to Edward, and for the first time in twenty years, I saw him smile—a cold, calculated smirk that made my skin crawl. “You've been very clever, Rafael,” he said, his accent shifting from servant to master. “But you should have left well enough alone.”
He reached into his coat and pulled out a document, yellowed with age. “This is the real will, signed by your father. It states that all assets go to his legitimate heir—a daughter you never knew existed. And I have proof that Maya is not that heir.”
I stared at him. “My father had a daughter?”
“Yes. And she's been waiting for her inheritance for years.”
Maya appeared at the top of the stairs, her small face pale. “Papa, what's happening?”
Edward turned to her, his smile widening. “Ah, the little princess. You see, Rafael, your father knew about Sabrina's greed. He set this whole game in motion to test you. And you failed.”
I stepped in front of Maya, my fists clenching. “What do you want?”
“I want you to sign over the company,” Edward said. “Or I'll expose the truth—that your beloved daughter is not your biological child. The DNA report was a fake, too. I arranged it.”
Maya gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. I felt the world tilt. “You're lying.”
“Am I? Check the seal, Rafael. I made sure it was perfect—but not too perfect to be traced.”
I pulled out my phone, my fingers trembling as I called my lawyer. The line rang, and a voice answered. “Mr. Castellano, I've been trying to reach you. The DNA report you sent—there's a discrepancy. The lab says it was tampered with.”
The phone slipped from my hand.
Edward stepped closer, his eyes gleaming. “You see? I've been patient. I've been waiting for this moment. Now, sign the papers, and I'll let you keep the child—as a ward, not an heir.”
Maya clung to my leg, her tears soaking through my trousers. “Papa, don't believe him. Please.”
I looked down at her, my heart breaking. She was my daughter in every way that mattered. But if what Edward said was true, then the DNA report was a lie, and the legal system would tear her away from me.
I had to find a way to fight back. And I had to do it fast.
