Previously: Bianca's diamond smile hid a foam belly and a sinister plan. But little Sophie's whisper shattered it all, and Enzo's final decree left everyone gasping for air.

The Guard's Secret

Drago's voice was calm, almost detached. "You think you're the only one with secrets, old man?" He lowered the gun, but only slightly. "I've been working for Bianca's father for years. This whole engagement was a setup to bleed you dry."

Enzo's jaw tightened, but he didn't move. "You're a pawn, Drago. You have no idea who you're dealing with."

Drago laughed. "Oh, I know exactly who I'm dealing with. A man who's so desperate for an heir that he'd believe a foam belly. But you know what? I've got a better offer."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a USB drive. "On this drive is a video recording of Bianca's father — and your own board members — plotting to oust you. They've been embezzling for years, and they're ready to pull the trigger next month."

Bianca stared at Drago, betrayal flickering across her face. "You were supposed to protect me!"

"Protect you?" Drago sneered. "You're a liability, sweetheart. You couldn't even keep a foam belly on straight."

Enzo stepped forward, his voice steady. "What do you want, Drago?"

"I want a seat on your board. And I want you to forget everything you've heard tonight. In exchange, I'll give you the drive — and I'll make sure Bianca and her father disappear."

Elena pulled Sophie closer, shielding her. Sophie's eyes were wide, but she didn't cry. She had seen enough tonight to know that her grandfather was not a man to be trifled with.

Enzo looked at the drive, then at the gun, then at the trembling remnants of his family. He smiled — a cold, calculating smile.

"You think a USB drive scares me, Drago?" He reached into his own pocket and pulled out his phone. "I've been recording this entire conversation. You just confessed to conspiracy, extortion, and attempted murder."

Drago's face went pale. "You're bluffing."

"Am I?" Enzo pressed a button on his phone, and a clear audio recording of Drago's voice played back: "Bianca's father... plotting to oust you... I'll make sure they disappear."

The guards standing at the door suddenly raised their weapons — but they were aiming at Drago, not Enzo. "I've known about your little scheme for weeks," Enzo said. "I've been waiting for you to reveal yourself."

Drago dropped the gun. It clattered on the marble floor, and he fell to his knees, defeated.

Bianca, meanwhile, had been slowly edging toward the door. But Elena stepped in front of her. "You're not going anywhere."

Bianca swung her clutch, but Elena caught her wrist and twisted it. "That's for my daughter," she said, and then she shoved Bianca to the ground.

Enzo nodded to the guards. "Take them all away. And call my lawyer — I want them prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

As the guards dragged the conspirators out, Enzo knelt down and scooped Sophie into his arms. "Are you okay, little one?"

Sophie nodded, her cheek against his shoulder. "I'm okay, Grandpa. I have you."

Elena approached, her eyes full of tears. "Enzo, I... I don't know how to thank you."

"You don't have to," he said, his voice softer than it had been all night. "Sophie is my blood. And now she has both of us."

The New Heir

Three months later, the rotunda was transformed. The obsidian table was covered in white roses, and the chandeliers burned bright with celebration. It was Sophie's birthday — her eighth — and the entire dynasty had gathered to honor her.

Enzo stood at the head of the room, holding a small velvet box. "Sophie, from this day forward, you are not just my granddaughter. You are the heir to the De Luca empire. Everything I have built, everything I will build, is for you."

He opened the box to reveal a pendant — a tiny silver ship, the same one that had sat on his desk for decades. "This was my mother's. It's been in our family for generations. Now it's yours."

Sophie's eyes sparkled as he clipped it around her neck. "Thank you, Grandpa."

Elena stood beside her, tears streaming down her face. She had been given a position in the company — a small office, a real salary — and a second chance at being a mother.

As the guests applauded, Enzo looked out the window at the city below. He had lost a fiancée, a guard, and a business partner, but he had gained something far more valuable: a family that was real.

He raised his glass. "To Sophie — the true heir, and the future of this dynasty."

Everyone drank, and the music swelled. Sophie reached up and squeezed his hand. "Grandpa, does this mean I have to go to school?"

Enzo laughed, a deep, genuine sound. "Yes, little one. But after that, the world is yours."

As the night wore on, Sophie sat on his lap, watching the guests dance. She was still a child, but she had learned something that would stay with her forever: in the game of power, the only currency that matters is truth.

And in that moment, Enzo knew that his legacy was in safe hands.
