Thomas carried his sobbing son to his private study, away from the prying eyes of their wealthy guests. Elena followed quietly, her shoulders shaking, while Sarah stormed in behind them, slamming the heavy oak door shut. The illusion of their perfect family was entirely shattered.

Sarah hissed, pointing a manicured finger at Elena. "She has poisoned my son's mind against me!"

But Thomas was no longer blinded by Sarah's beauty. He remembered the week Leo had spent in the pediatric ward after a severe asthma attack. Thomas had been away on an urgent business trip in London, assured by Sarah that she was by Leo's bedside day and night. Now, looking at Elena's tear-stained face, Thomas demanded the truth.

"Elena, look at me," Thomas commanded softly. "What happened at the hospital?"

"He was crying and calling for you, sir,"

Elena whispered, her voice cracking. "The nurses said she couldn't stay, but I couldn't leave him. I snuck in after my shifts. I sat on the floor by his bed and sang to him until he fell asleep."
