The rain fell in relentless sheets, drumming a deafening rhythm against the pavement as Justin pulled his truck into the driveway. It was supposed to be a routine business trip, but a canceled flight had brought him home early. The house was mostly dark, save for a single flickering light on the back patio. As he stepped out of his truck, a sound pierced through the howling wind—a high-pitched, desperate sob that made his heart stop.

Justin sprinted toward the backyard. Through the torrential downpour, he saw a small figure huddled against the glass.
