When He Found His Fiancée Attacking His Grandmother, He Discovered a Dark Family Secret
Previously: When William walked into his family estate to surprise his grandmother, he never expected to find his beautiful fiancée viciously attacking the fragile elderly woman on the floor.
A Legacy of True Value
Sophia’s face drained of color. The realization that her elaborate scheme had collapsed left her speechless. She lunged toward William, but the loud, wailing sirens of approaching police cars echoed through the estate's courtyard. William had silently pressed the emergency panic button on the wall the moment he dragged Sophia away from his grandmother.
Within minutes, officers flooded the foyer, taking a screaming Sophia into custody. As she was led away in handcuffs, her emerald gown dragging on the floor, silence finally settled over the grand estate. William knelt beside Eleanor, gently wrapping his arms around her frail shoulders. He felt a deep sense of guilt for bringing such danger into her life.
"I'm so sorry, Grandma," William choked out, tears finally escaping his eyes. "I brought her into our lives. I almost let her ruin us."
Eleanor smiled softly, reaching up to stroke his cheek with a trembling hand. "You didn't ruin anything, my boy. You saved me," she whispered. She then pointed toward the antique grandfather clock standing in the corner of the foyer. "And Sophia was wrong about one more thing. I was never cutting you out. I knew she was dangerous, so I had a hidden camera installed in that clock last week. We have everything on tape. Your inheritance is safe, but more importantly, you are safe."
Looking at the scattered red roses on the floor, William realized that true wealth wasn't measured by the granite floors or the mahogany stairs of the estate. It was found in the fierce, protective love of the family that remained. In the end, greed will always expose itself, but the bonds of true family can never be broken.
