Previously: When Victoria forced her future mother-in-law to polish her shoes, she thought she owned the mansion. But a sudden arrival with legal documents shattered her greedy dreams forever.

The Unraveling of a Golden Dream

Victoria’s jaw dropped as she stared at the attorney. The haughty posture she had held just moments ago crumbled.

"What did you just say?" she whispered, her voice shaking. "That's impossible. Julian promised me this estate. We signed the prenuptial agreement!"

Thomas stepped forward, sliding a set of notarized documents from his folder and placing them on the marble coffee table.

"The prenuptial agreement you signed had a clause, Victoria," Thomas explained calmly. "It stated that upon signing, Julian's inheritance of this property would be finalized. However, what you failed to read was the codicil added by Julian’s late father years ago."

Julian walked over, his eyes wide as he looked at the papers.

"Thomas, what codicil?" Julian asked, his voice barely audible.

Thomas looked at Helen, who was now standing up, dusting off her beige dress with a quiet dignity.

"Your father knew that some people might be drawn to your family's wealth rather than your heart, Julian," Thomas said. "The codicil dictated that if you ever entered an engagement contract with someone who demanded ownership or control of the family estate, the deed of this entire property would automatically and irrevocably transfer solely to your mother, Helen. It was a protective measure."

Victoria’s face turned pale. She realized her own greed had triggered the clause. By insisting that Julian transfer the house to her name as a condition of their marriage, she had set off a legal tripwire.

"No, this is a mistake! Julian, tell him he's wrong!" Victoria screamed, turning to her fiancé. "We are getting married next month! This is my house!"

But Julian was looking at his mother, then at Victoria. The veil had finally been lifted from his eyes. He saw the cruelty in the woman he loved, and the quiet suffering of the mother who had sacrificed everything for him.
