A Greedy Son Abused His Crying Mother, Until His Military Sister Returned Home
Previously: When Julian cornered his helpless mother to steal her life savings, he thought nobody could stop him. But he didn't expect his sister, a combat-trained soldier, to walk through the door.
A Web of Greed and Lies
Julian clutched his bruised chest, gasping for air on the dusty hallway floor. He glared up at Samantha, his eyes spitting venom despite his obvious physical defeat. "You think you're a hero, Sam?" he wheezed, struggling to sit up. "You've been gone for years! You don't know what this old woman has been doing. She's sitting on a fortune while I'm drowning!"
Samantha didn't flinch. She kept her protective arm around Helen, whose body was still wracked with silent, trembling sobs. "I don't care what excuses you have, Julian," Samantha said, her voice icy and dangerous. "You laid hands on our mother. There is no coming back from that."
With Samantha’s reassurance, Helen finally found her voice. She pulled her cardigan tighter around herself, looking at her son with a mixture of profound grief and disappointment. "I didn't hide anything from you, Julian," she whispered. "The money your father left was meant for my medical care and Samantha's college debts. But you wanted it all for your gambling."
Julian let out a cynical laugh. "That money belongs to me! I stayed here and took care of this house while she went off to play soldier!" He pointed a shaking finger at Samantha. "I’ll call the police on you for assault! You're active duty, sister. Let's see how your commanders like you kicking civilians!"
Samantha stood up slowly, her stature imposing in the narrow hallway. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, heavy folder. "Go ahead, call them," she challenged calmly. "Because while I was deployed, I had a military lawyer look into the suspicious bank transfers from Mom’s accounts. I have the bank statements, Julian. I know you forged her signature to steal fifty thousand dollars. If the police come, you’re the one leaving in handcuffs."
