A Dream Wedding Turns Into a Nightmare

The grand ballroom of the Whispering Pines Estate was supposed to host the happiest day of Sophia’s life. Instead, it became the stage for a cruel ambush. Sophia, elegant in her plum-colored gown, ran through the double doors, her heart pounding. There, kneeling on the polished hardwood floor, was her seven-year-old daughter, Chloe. The little girl was sobbing hysterically, clutching her forehead where a nasty cut bled onto her party dress. Nearby, on a lace runner, sat an ancient family bible, its cover stained with a fresh drop of blood.

Sophia immediately dropped to her knees, wrapping her arms around her trembling child.

"Mommy,"

Chloe cried, her voice cracking with terror. Sophia held her tight, trying to wipe the blood away, her mind racing to understand what had happened. Then, a cold voice cut through the air.

Julian, the groom and Sophia’s fiancé, stood just feet away, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo. Beside him was his mother, Evelyn, looking down with a sneer.

"That's what happens when you raise a thief,"

Julian said coldly, his face devoid of any empathy. He crossed his arms, staring down at the bleeding child as if she were a common criminal.

Chloe shook her head violently, tears streaming down her bruised cheeks.

"I didn't take it, I promise,"

she begged, looking up at her mother for protection. The pain in her daughter's eyes ignited a fierce protective fire inside Sophia. She looked up, her gaze scanning the high-vaulted ceiling of the ballroom until she spotted what she was looking for: a high-definition dome security camera pointing directly at the altar.

Sophia stood up slowly, her eyes locking onto Julian with deadly intensity.

"You should have checked the CCTV..."

she whispered, her voice trembling with rage. She stepped forward, shielding Chloe behind her.

"...before you touched my daughter."

She watched in satisfaction as Julian's smug expression instantly turned to sheer shock.
