For a brief moment, Julian’s face paled, but he quickly recovered his composure, letting out a nervous laugh.

"Don't be ridiculous, Sophia. There’s no need to make a scene and ruin our wedding over a misunderstanding,"

he said, stepping forward to grab her arm. Sophia yanked her arm back, her glare icy enough to freeze the room. Evelyn chimed in, her voice dripping with venom.

"The girl was caught red-handed trying to steal my family's heirloom bible! She tripped over her own feet because she was running away. Julian did nothing wrong!"

Sophia ignored them both, scooping Chloe into her arms. She marched straight toward the estate manager’s office, Julian and Evelyn trailing behind, whispering frantically. Julian tried to block the door, but Sophia pushed past him, demanding that the security chief replay the footage from the ballroom.

"Show me what happened five minutes ago,"

she commanded.

The security guard nodded, his fingers flying across the keyboard. The screen flickered to life, showing the empty ballroom just before the guests arrived. Chloe could be seen walking toward the altar, admiring the flowers. Suddenly, Julian entered the frame. He looked angry, pacing back and forth. When he noticed Chloe near the altar, he marched up to her and snatched the ancient bible from her hands, shoving the little girl forcefully. Chloe stumbled backward, her head striking the sharp edge of the marble altar before she collapsed to the floor.

The room went dead silent. Sophia felt her stomach drop as she watched the brutal footage. It wasn't an accident, and Chloe hadn't stolen anything. Julian had attacked her child in a fit of rage, and then fabricated a lie to cover his tracks and paint the innocent girl as a thief.
