The Groom Panicked When My Camera Captured What He Said Before the Wedding
An Uninvited Guest at the Altar
The bright, pastel-decorated chapel was filled with the sweet scent of lilies and the soft murmur of excited guests. I stood there, clutching my bouquet, looking into David's eyes. He looked perfect in his black tuxedo, the picture of a devoted groom. But just as the minister began to speak, the heavy wooden doors at the back of the chapel swung open with a loud thud.
My younger sister, Emily, came dashing down the aisle. She wasn't dressed in her bridesmaid gown; instead, she was holding her vintage film camera tightly against her chest. Her hair was disheveled, and her face was pale with panic. Immediately, the serene atmosphere shattered.
"Get her out of here! Now!" David screamed, his face contorting into an expression of sheer fury.
The guests gasped. I turned to David, my eyes filling with tears. Why was he acting so aggressively toward my sister? Emily didn't stop. She pushed past the groomsmen and dove behind the heavy satin train of my wedding dress, seeking protection. David stepped forward, his fists clenched, his voice snapping with a desperate edge.
"So what? She's lying! Don't listen to her, Jessica!" David barked, trying to grab Emily's arm.
Emily looked up at me from the floor, her eyes wide and sincere. She pointed the vintage camera toward me and then to David.
"The camera heard you, David," Emily whispered, her voice shaking but resolute. "He said he used you, Jessica. He's been lying to you this whole time."
David's face drained of color. He watched in sheer panic as Emily pressed a button on the side of the vintage camera, which she had modified to record digital audio. A crackling, recorded voice began to play through the chapel's sound system. "After the wedding, I'll take..." the voice began, and my heart stopped. It was David's voice.
