"Your father, Richard, was indeed a generous man, Julian. But he was also exceptionally wise,"

Thomas explained, his voice steady and authoritative.

"He knew your tendency to be easily influenced by others. Therefore, he added a very specific protective clause to the deed. The clause dictated that if you ever signed an engagement contract with a partner, the entire ownership of this mansion would automatically and instantly transfer solely to your mother, Helen."

Victoria's eyes widened in sheer horror. She had spent months manipulating Julian into signing their pre-engagement agreement, believing it secured her future as the mistress of the grand estate.
