He Defended His Mother from His Daughter, Only to Learn the Dark Truth
Previously: When Thomas saw his daughter Emily push his elderly mother Clara off the porch, he reacted in pure fury. But the truth behind Emily's desperate act would shatter his entire world.
The Hidden Truth
Thomas rushed down the steps to help his mother. Clara whimpered, clinging to his blue henley as he gently lifted her from the bushes. She seemed so small, so helpless.
"She tried to push me, Thomas,"
Clara sobbed, her voice cracking.
"She wanted me gone. She's been threatening me for weeks."
Thomas turned back to Emily, who was slowly standing up, wiping the dirt and blood from her face.
"Get out,"
Thomas whispered, his voice dangerously quiet.
"Pack your things and get out of my house."
But Emily didn't move. Instead, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. Her hands were shaking, but her voice was steady.
"I'm not going anywhere, Dad,"
Emily said, her voice cracking with emotion.
"Not until you look at this. You think she's a helpless old woman? You have no idea what she's been doing to Mom's estate, and what she's been doing to you."
Thomas frowned, his anger momentarily faltering. Emily pressed play on a video and held the screen out to him. It was a feed from a nanny cam she had hidden in the living room.
With Clara still clinging to his arm, Thomas looked at the screen. What he saw made his blood run cold. The video showed Clara, completely agile and alert, systematically searching through Thomas's private safe. She found his late wife's jewelry and financial documents, stuffing them into her purse. But that wasn't the worst of it. The camera captured Clara speaking on the phone, her voice sharp and malicious.
"I've almost got him to sign the deed over to me,"
Clara's recorded voice sneered.
"Once the house is in my name, I'll kick Thomas and his brat out on the street. He's too stupid to realize I've been poisoning his mind against his own daughter."
Thomas stared at the screen, his breath catching in his throat. He slowly turned his head to look at the woman clinging to his arm.
