Stepping out into the dusty air was Arthur Vance, Olivia’s father, a legendary real estate tycoon whose name struck fear into the hearts of competitors across the state. Behind him, four men in immaculate dark suits stepped out, carrying heavy leather briefcases. These weren't just ordinary lawyers; this was the most feared corporate litigation team in the country.
Richard’s smug grin instantly faltered. He took a nervous step back, his hand dropping from Sarah's waist. He had spent years isolating Olivia from her wealthy family, convincing her that her father was a controlling tyrant. He never expected that one phone call from his pregnant ex-wife would bring the billionaire mogul straight to his doorstep.
"Arthur," Richard stammered, trying to regain his composure as he walked down the stone steps. "This is private property. The divorce is finalized. Olivia has no right to be here, and neither do you."
Arthur Vance didn't even look at Richard. He walked straight past him, his eyes locked on his daughter. Seeing her standing in the dirt, pregnant and shivering, broke the old man's heart. He wrapped his heavy wool coat around Olivia's shoulders, kissing her forehead. "I've got you, sweetheart," he whispered. "Your father is here now."
Arthur then turned to face Richard, his expression turning to pure ice. He signaled to his lead attorney, a ruthless man named Harrison, who stepped forward with a thick manila folder.
"Mr. Vance," Richard sneered, trying to sound brave for Sarah's sake. "You can bring all the lawyers you want. The prenuptial agreement Olivia signed waives all her rights to this mansion in the event of a divorce. I legally own this estate."
Harrison let out a cold, humorless laugh as he opened the folder. "Mr. Miller, you are incredibly mistaken," the attorney said, pulling out a deed. "You own the structure of this house, yes. But you do not own the land it sits on. This entire estate is built on a land lease owned exclusively by the Vance Family Trust. And according to the lease terms, any moral turpitude or legal dispute immediately voids your right to occupy this land."
