His Glamorous Fiancée Mocked The Maid, But Didn't Know Who Truly Owned The Mansion
Previously: Eleanor thought she was the queen of the grand mansion, mocking the quiet girl scrubbing the floors. But one phone call from her fiancé shattered her world forever.
The Unmasking of a Queen
Eleanor stood frozen, the color completely draining from her face. She looked at Arthur, searching his cold expression for any sign of a joke, but found only absolute disgust. The grand mansion, which she had spent months redecorating and boasting about to her high-society friends, suddenly felt like a cage closing in on her.
"Arthur, you can't be serious!"
Eleanor shrieked, her voice echoing off the high ceilings. She pointed a manicured finger down at Clara, who was now slowly standing up, holding her soapy sponge.
"Because of her? She's a maid! You're throwing away our wedding, our future, over a common servant who can't even do her job right?"
Arthur took a step forward, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper that made Eleanor instinctively take a step back.
"She is not a servant, Eleanor. And she is certainly not common."
He turned to Clara, his demeanor instantly softening. He reached out, gently taking the sponge from her wet hands and tossing it aside. He pulled a silk handkerchief from his pocket and began to gently wipe the soapy water from Clara's reddened hands.
"I am so sorry, Clara. I should have never let her treat you this way,"
Arthur murmured, his voice thick with genuine remorse. Clara gave him a weak, tired smile, shaking her road. Eleanor watched this display in absolute horror, her mind racing to connect the dots. Arthur was a self-made billionaire, or so she had thought. Why was he apologizing to a cleaning girl?
Arthur turned back to Eleanor, his eyes hardening once more. He pulled a legal document from his briefcase and tossed it onto the polished marble floor, right where Clara had been scrubbing.
"You thought you were marrying into wealth, Eleanor. But you never bothered to ask where my funding came from. This house, my company, and the very ground you are standing on belong to the Clara Vance Trust. Clara is my younger sister, and she is the sole heiress to our father's estate."
