The Miracle in the Penthouse

Arthur sat in his wheelchair, staring out at the glittering skyline of Manhattan. At fifty-two, he possessed everything a man could desire—wealth, power, and an empire built on cutting-edge technology. Yet, he was a prisoner. A devastating accident ten years ago had left his legs completely paralyzed. No amount of money or medical expertise had been able to restore his mobility. He was alone in his vast, silent penthouse, holding a glass of vintage red wine, when the balcony door slid open.

A young man slipped into the dining room. He was disheveled, his clothes tattered, wearing a torn jacket that smelled of the rainy city streets. Arthur’s hand hovered over the security button, but the young man’s calm, intense gaze stopped him.

"Sir," the boy spoke softly.

Arthur smiled skeptically, swirling his wine.

"You?"
he asked, amused by the intruder's audacity.

The boy looked directly at Arthur's useless legs.

"I can fix your leg."

Arthur let out a cynical chuckle.

"How long?"

"A few seconds,"
the boy answered without blinking.

Arthur laughed, a bitter sound.

"I'll give you a million."

Without a word, the boy knelt down on the cold marble floor. He reached out and touched Arthur’s bare foot.

"Count,"
he instructed.

Arthur scoffed, leaning back.

"This is ridiculous."

The boy touched his toes, his voice low and commanding.

"One, two. Stand up."

Suddenly, a surge of warmth rushed through Arthur's limbs. His muscles, dormant for a decade, contracted. In absolute shock, Arthur pushed himself upward. He stood. His wine glass slipped from his fingers, shattering loudly on the floor as he took his first miraculous steps.
