The garden fell into a suffocating silence. The whispers of the elite guests died down, replaced by sharp gasps of shock. Thomas stared at the boy—Lucas—and then back at the photo. The memories he had buried for nearly two decades came rushing back. Before the wealth, before the status, there had been Sarah. She was the girl he had loved and abandoned when his ambition took over. He had chosen a marriage of convenience to Victoria, the daughter of a powerful real estate mogul, to secure his future.

Victoria stepped forward, her eyes flashing with cold anger. "Thomas, what is the meaning of this theater?" she demanded, her voice dripping with venom. "Who is this street rat, and why are you holding that ridiculous photo?"

Thomas couldn't find his voice. He looked at Lucas's hollow cheeks and realized his own son had grown up in poverty while he lived in a mansion.

"His name is Lucas,"

Thomas muttered, his voice barely audible.

"He is... Sarah's son."

Victoria’s face hardened. She leaned in, whispering so only he could hear.

"If you acknowledge this boy, you are finished. My father will pull every cent of funding from your firm. I will divorce you, and I will make sure you are left with absolutely nothing. Choose carefully, Thomas."

Thomas looked at his wife, then at his son. Lucas wasn't asking for an inheritance; he was begging for his mother's life.

"She’s in the county hospital,"

Lucas whispered, tears streaming down his face.

"She has heart failure, and they won't perform the surgery without a deposit. Please, Father."

The word 'Father' pierced Thomas's heart deeper than any threat Victoria could make. He stood at a crossroads, caught between the empire built on a lie and the family he had abandoned.
