An Angel in the Freezing Cold

The wind howling under the concrete overpass in Pittsburgh was unforgiving, carrying with it a bitter, icy snow that coated the gray streets. Beneath the bridge, inside a fragile shelter made of a blue plastic tarp and discarded cardboard boxes, twenty-three-year-old Tyler huddled against the cold. But he wasn't alone. Clutched tightly in his arms was Margaret, an eighty-year-old woman with thin silver curls who had wandered into the freezing night, confused and shivering. She was wearing Tyler's only thick winter coat, wrapped securely around her fragile frame.

"Why would you give me your only coat, sweetheart?"

Margaret asked, her voice trembling as she looked up at him with faded, tearful eyes. Tyler, shivering violently in his thin cotton long-sleeve shirt, offered her a weak but genuine smile.

"Because you're freezing and you need it more than I do,"

he replied softly, rubbing her arms to keep her circulation going. He didn't know who she was or how she had ended up wandering the dangerous streets alone in a blizzard, but he knew he couldn't let her die.

Suddenly, the crunch of heavy boots on the icy ground shattered the quiet. A group of men in dark, expensive parkas approached the makeshift shelter. Leading them was Richard, a well-dressed man in his mid-forties whose face was pale with sheer panic. Seeing the silver hair peeking out from the tarp, Richard rushed over, throwing himself onto the icy ground. He placed a trembling hand on Margaret's shoulder.

"Mom. Thank God, are you alright?"

he cried, his voice cracking with emotion. Tyler, teeth chattering, looked at the wealthy man and pleaded,

"Please, she's been so cold. Get her somewhere warm."
