Previously: Standing frozen in the winter cold, nineteen-year-old Chloe thought she was completely alone. But when a mysterious biker group surrounded her, she realized her late father's promise was finally being kept.

A New Horizon

Just as Chloe finished reading the letter, the diner’s front bell chimed aggressively. The door swung open, and a blast of freezing air rushed in, accompanied by the one person Chloe feared most. Her stepfather stood in the doorway, his face twisted in rage as he spotted her. "Chloe! Get your things. You're coming home right now," he snarled, stepping toward her table.

Chloe shrank back, but Marcus didn't even flinch. He stood up slowly, his towering frame casting a long shadow over her stepfather. At that exact moment, the bell chimed again, and three more members of Marcus’s motorcycle club stepped inside, silently flanking their leader.

Marcus looked down at the angry man, his voice ice-cold.

"She’s nineteen, which means she goes wherever she wants. And right now, she’s coming with us. If you ever come near her again, you'll have to answer to all of us. Do I make myself clear?"

The stepfather looked at Marcus, then at the muscular riders backing him up, and realized he was entirely outmatched. Pale and trembling with humiliated fury, he turned on his heel and slammed the door behind him as he left.

A collective sigh of relief filled the diner. Marcus turned to Chloe and offered a gentle smile, extending his hand.

"You don't ever have to run again, kiddo. You’ve got a whole family behind you now."

For the first time in five years, Chloe felt truly safe. She took Marcus's hand, ready to start her new life with the family her father had chosen for her. Sometimes, the family that rescues us isn't the one we are born into, but the one bound by loyalty, love, and unbreakable promises.
