The entire ballroom fell into a suffocating silence. Arthur’s face contorted from anger to sheer disbelief as he reached out to grab Thomas. "Touch her again and I will destroy you!" Arthur threatened, his voice trembling. But before the security guards could lay a hand on Thomas, a soft gasp escaped Clara’s lips. She gripped Thomas’s strong hands, her fingers tightening with a strength she hadn't possessed in ten years. A sudden warmth rushed through her legs, a sensation she had long forgotten. Slowly, miraculously, Clara began to lift herself out of the wheelchair.

Arthur muttered, clutching his chest.

Thomas stood up, his rugged face solemn. He looked at Arthur and spoke so the entire room could hear.

"You call me a beggar, Arthur, but you are the one bankrupt of truth. Ten years ago, you told the world that a drunk driver paralyzed your daughter and killed my father. You paid off the judges and framed my father, letting him die in a prison cell for a crime you committed."
