"You cannot be serious, Justin," Eleanor hissed, stepping closer. "I organized this entire event. I invited our family friends, the board members, the people who actually matter to your career. You are going to ruin your reputation over a girl who doesn't even know which fork to use?"

Justin’s grip on Chloe tightened. His eyes were cold, devoid of the warmth he usually reserved for his family.

"I said, get out, Eleanor. And take your guests with you," Justin repeated, his voice dangerously calm.

Realizing her son was resolute, Eleanor tried to play her final card. She stepped back, smoothing her navy gown, and delivered a chilling ultimatum. She revealed that the trust fund holding the deed to their penthouse and Justin’s future position at the family firm were entirely dependent on her goodwill. If he chose Chloe over his family's expectations, he would be stripped of everything by tomorrow morning.

"You think you're a self-made man, but you're living in my world," Eleanor whispered sharply. "Choose wisely. A wife can be replaced. Your legacy cannot."

Chloe looked at Justin, terror gripping her heart. She knew how hard he had worked, and she didn't want to be the reason he lost his inheritance. She whispered to him, begging him to let it go, to let her just finish the dishes to keep the peace. But Justin looked down at his wife, his decision already made.
