Security officers flooded the hallway seconds later, pinning a screaming Nicole to the ground. Richard finally moved, stepping forward with a perfectly rehearsed look of concern painting his face. Olivia pulled away, weeping into her hands. "How could you?" she whispered. "She tried to hurt our baby, and you just watched!"

An hour later, Olivia was stabilized, her baby's heartbeat strong and steady. Dr. Foster entered her private room, his face grim but determined. He held a tablet showing the security footage, but he also held the lab results. The syringe contained a powerful, illegal drug designed to induce rapid, violent labor—a dose high enough to cause severe complications for both mother and child. But the biggest shock came when Dr. Foster revealed what the security cameras had captured before the attack: Richard and Nicole meeting in the stairwell, handing over the syringe, and planning the entire confrontation to look like a random manic episode.
