An Unexpected Visitor at the Broken Spoke

The neon sign of the Broken Spoke flickered through the thick, hazy smoke of the tavern. Inside, the air was heavy with the scent of cheap whiskey, stale beer, and leather. It was a place where outsiders did not belong, a sanctuary for the hardened members of the Iron Titans motorcycle club. When the heavy wooden door creaked open, letting in a gust of cold night air, the low murmur of conversation instantly died down. Every eye in the bar turned to the doorway.

Standing there was Martha, a sixty-six-year-old woman with elegant silver hair framing a face lined with years of quiet sorrow. She wore a heavy leather riding jacket, zipped tight against the chill. She didn't look like she belonged in a place like this, yet she stepped forward with an icy, unwavering resolve.

Before she could reach the bar, a massive shadow fell over her. Roy, the towering, muscular president of the club, blocked her path. His bald head gleamed under the harsh neon light, and his weathered leather vest was covered in patches. He grinned menacingly, leaning down to loom over her fragile frame.

"Lady, you got ten seconds to get out of here before things get uncomfortable," Roy warned, his voice a low, gravelly rumble.

Martha did not flinch. She clutched her collar, looking the giant straight in the eye with a courage that startled the surrounding bikers.

"I drove four hundred miles to be here tonight," she said clearly.

With a slow, deliberate motion, she reached for the zipper of her heavy riding jacket and pulled it open. Underneath was a vintage, pristine leather vest. It was the legendary founder's vest of the Iron Titans, complete with the original gold-threaded skull and crossed pistons.

Roy’s tough, intimidating demeanor vanished in an instant. Stunned silence washed over him as his eyes locked onto the ancient leather.

"Where did you get that?" he asked, his voice suddenly stripped of all its malice.

Martha looked away solemnly, her voice barely a whisper. "He gave it to me the night he disappeared."
