I Smashed My Mistress’s Coffin with an Axe to Prove She Was Still Alive
Previously: When maid Mia disrupted a wealthy family's funeral with an axe, she was called insane—until a faint whisper from inside the shattered coffin changed everything.
The Hidden Vial
The parlor erupted into absolute chaos as the faint whispers from inside the coffin grew more distinct. Eleanor’s hands shook as she peered through the splintered gap, her eyes widening in disbelief. Beneath the shattered lid, Emma’s fingers were twitching, weakly clawing at the white satin lining. She was alive, but barely conscious, her breathing shallow and labored as if waking from a deep, unnatural slumber.
Arthur’s face drained of all color. Instead of rushing to aid his daughter, a look of sheer, cold terror washed over his features. He lunged toward the casket, trying to push Eleanor and Mia aside.
"Get back! She's out of her mind, this is a post-mortem muscle spasm! We must close the lid and call the coroner immediately!"he shouted desperately, his voice cracking with panic.
But Mia was quick. She stepped between Arthur and the casket, her protective instincts overriding her fear. As she did, her eyes caught sight of something glinting beneath Emma's satin pillow. Slipping her hand inside, she pulled out a small, empty glass vial. The label was partially torn, but the chemical name was clear: a rare, highly controlled paralytic drug that could slow a person's heart rate to an undetectable level, mimicking death perfectly for up to forty-eight hours.
Mia held the vial up for everyone to see.
"This isn't a medical miracle, Arthur. You poisoned her!"she accused, her voice ringing clear across the silent room.
Realizing his plan was completely ruined, Arthur’s desperation turned lethal. He reached into his black wool suit jacket and pulled out a small, silver pistol. The crowd screamed, scrambling toward the exits in a panic. Arthur pointed the weapon directly at Mia's chest.
"Give me that vial, Mia, and step away from the coffin,"he hissed, his eyes wild and dangerous.
"Or I swear, you won't live to see the police arrive."
