Previously: When Chloe, a young maid, disrupted a wealthy family's funeral with a wood-splitting axe, everyone thought she had lost her mind—until a muffled voice cried out from inside.

The Locked Chapel

With trembling hands, Chloe and Beatrice pried open the splintered lid of the casket. Inside, Emma lay gasping for air, her eyes fluttering open as she fought the heavy sedation that had paralyzed her. The crowd erupted into absolute pandemonium. But instead of calling for help, Thomas moved with chilling calculation. He signaled his private security guards, who immediately locked the heavy oak doors of the chapel, trapping everyone inside.

"Nobody panic," Thomas announced, his voice tight. "My wife is experiencing a severe medical episode. We will transport her to my private clinic immediately."

Emma reached out a weak, trembling hand, her fingers brushing Chloe’s apron. "No... Chloe, please," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "He did this to me. The tea... he poisoned me."

Chloe looked up to see Dr. Vance, the family physician who had signed Emma's death certificate, trying to slip out of the side exit. Chloe raised the axe, blocking his path. "You’re not going anywhere," she warned, her voice steadying despite her fear.

Thomas stepped toward the casket, pulling a small silver syringe from his breast pocket. "She is hysterical and needs to be sedated for her own safety," he lied, stepping closer to Emma. Beatrice threw herself in front of her daughter. "Touch her and I will ruin you, Thomas!" she cried.

Thomas sneered, his mask completely slipping. "You think anyone will believe a senile old woman and a hysterical maid? Step aside." He raised the syringe, ready to silence Emma forever. Chloe knew she had only seconds to act before Thomas completed his dark work. She gripped the axe handle, ready to defend Emma at all costs.
