I Smashed My Mistress's Coffin with an Axe to Reveal the Family's Darkest Secret
A Shocking Interruption
The air inside the private chapel of the Sterling estate was heavy with the scent of lilies and cold stone. Beneath the towering stained-glass windows, a white wooden coffin sat on polished brass stands. To the casual observer, it was a solemn, tragic farewell to Emma Sterling, the twenty-four-year-old heiress who had supposedly succumbed to a sudden heart failure. But to Mia, the family’s young maid, the scene felt like a waking nightmare. She stood at the back of the chapel, her hands shaking, clutching a heavy wood-splitting axe she had dragged from the garden shed.
Before anyone could stop her, Mia marched down the aisle, her boots echoing against the stone floor. With a desperate cry, she swung the axe, splintering the pristine white wood of the coffin lid.
"Stop the funeral, she's not dead!" Mia screamed, her voice cracking with raw emotion.
The mourners gasped, recoiling in horror. Arthur Sterling, Emma’s sixty-year-old uncle, rushed forward, his face flushed with fury.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Arthur yelled, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceiling.
"I heard her! I heard her crying!" Mia pleaded, tears streaming down her face as she pointed the axe at the shattered wood. "I washed her hair this morning, her hands were warm!"
A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the chapel. Then, from the jagged hole in the coffin lid, a faint, muffled whisper emerged.
"No... don't do this to me..."
Arthur froze, his face draining of all color. He looked around the room in sudden panic.
"Did you hear that?" he whispered, his bravado instantly vanishing.
Eleanor, the family matriarch, stepped forward. Her hand trembled as she touched the splintered wood.
"My God... Emma?" she gasped.
”Emma?" she gasped.
