Justice Under the Stained Glass

But they didn't get far. Before Arthur and Eleanor could reach the heavy oak doors of the chapel, two police officers stepped into the entryway, blocking their path. Behind them stood Dr. Evans, the family physician who had signed Emma's death certificate. He looked pale and guilt-ridden.

It turned out Mia had not acted blindly. Before grabbing the axe, she had secretly called the local authorities and demanded they bring Dr. Evans to the chapel, threatening to expose his medical malpractice if he didn't confess. Faced with prison, the doctor had broken down and admitted that Arthur had bribed him to declare Emma dead after administering a temporary paralyzing drug.

Arthur and Eleanor were immediately handcuffed and led away in disgrace, their greed finally exposing their dark family legacy to the world.

With the villains secured, the paramedics rushed into the chapel to tend to Emma. She was weak, but the doctors assured Mia that the effects of the paralytic drug would wear off completely in a few days. As Emma was wheeled out on a stretcher, she held tightly to Mia's hand.

"You saved my life, Mia," Emma whispered, tears of gratitude shining in her eyes. "You were the only one who truly cared."

Mia smiled through her own tears, watching her friend ride away to safety. She had started the day as a humble maid, but by listening to her instincts and finding the courage to swing the axe, she had saved a life and brought justice to a corrupt dynasty.

Ultimately, true family is not defined by blood or inheritance, but by the love, loyalty, and courage of those who refuse to let us be buried in the dark.
