"Your procedures are over, Mr. Sterling," Natalie replied coldly. "You are relieved of your duties, effective immediately. Pack your things. This park, and all the properties surrounding it, now belong to Grace Holdings."
As Sterling and his guards scurried away in disgrace, Daniel watched in absolute disbelief. The powerful woman turned back to the old vendor, her cold demeanor melting into a warm, familiar smile. She took his calloused, trembling hands in hers.
She led Daniel across the street to a beautiful, brand-new brick building with a classic striped awning. Above the door, a pristine sign read: Daniel’s Sweet Haven. Natalie pushed the door open, revealing a state-of-the-art ice cream parlor, fully stocked and ready for business.
"When I was a starving orphan, your kindness saved my spirit," Natalie said, tears welling in her eyes. "You gave me hope when I had none. I went to school, worked hard, and built a life because of the humanity you showed me. This parlor is yours, Daniel. Fully paid for, with a lifetime endowment. You will never have to worry about rent or bankruptcy again."
Daniel wept openly, hugging the young woman who had kept her childhood promise so faithfully. The small seed of compassion he had planted twenty years ago had grown into a magnificent shield of protection.
