My Late Father Told Me to Stand Before a Charging Black Bull and Hold This Bandana
Previously: When 18-year-old Austin stepped into the path of a massive, charging bull holding only his late father’s old red bandana, the entire rodeo arena held its breath for a miracle.
The Truth Unlocked
Austin ran back to the ranch house, Ranger walking calmly by his side like a loyal guardian. Mitch followed at a distance, shouting threats, but he dared not get close to the protective bull. Inside his father's dusty study, Austin inserted the tiny brass key into the antique roll-top desk. It turned with a satisfying click.
Inside lay a thick manila envelope containing the original land deeds and a handwritten letter from his father. Austin's tears blurred the ink as he read the words. His father had not stolen anything. In fact, it was Mitch who had forged the deeds after his own brother's passing, attempting to steal the ranch from Austin's father. David had kept Ranger safe because the bull was legally registered under the estate to protect the land from being sold by Mitch.
Just then, Mitch burst through the door, accompanied by the local sheriff.
"Arrest the boy for trespassing, and shoot that bull!" Mitch demanded.
But Austin calmly handed the document to the sheriff.
"I think you need to read this first, Sheriff," Austin said quietly. "My father kept the receipts. Mitch has been embezzling and forging signatures for years."
The sheriff scanned the documents, his expression hardening. He turned to Mitch, pulling out his handcuffs.
"You have some explaining to do, Mitch," the sheriff said, clicking the cuffs onto Mitch's wrists.
As Mitch was led away in disgrace, Austin walked back out to the pasture where Ranger stood waiting under the fading golden sky. He wrapped his arms around the bull's massive neck, feeling the warmth of his father's spirit still alive in the giant creature.
In the face of greed and deception, the truest bonds of loyalty will always find a way to guide us home.
