Previously: When a crying little boy interrupted a biker meet to sell a toy, Gunnar never expected the child's next words would shatter his world and reveal a long-buried secret.

The Fight for My Son

Gunnar immediately stepped in front of Mickey, his massive frame shielding the terrified boy. The members of the Iron Brotherhood quickly surrounded the SUV, their expressions dark and menacing. The sheriff nervously put his hand on his holster, but the lawyer merely sneered at Gunnar, completely unfazed by the display of muscle.

"Go ahead, try something," the lawyer hissed, tapping the documents. "We have a signed custody order. You are a convicted felon with no legal rights to this boy. If you interfere, you will go to prison, and we will take him anyway."

Gunnar’s blood boiled. He knew the lawyer was right; a physical fight would only play into their hands and lose Mickey forever. But then, Gunnar remembered the envelope. He reached inside and felt a small, hard object taped to the very bottom. It was an encrypted USB flash drive. Along with it was a sticky note from Thomas: "In case they find you. Use this."

Gunnar pulled out his phone, plugged the drive in, and scanned the files. His eyes widened. Thomas had spent his final months gathering evidence. The drive contained ironclad proof that the Vanderbilt family had been embezzling millions from Sarah’s trust fund, along with records of the bribes they paid to the corrupt judge who signed the custody order.

Gunnar took a step forward, a cold, confident smile spreading across his face. He showed the lawyer the screen, scrolling through the damning financial records.

"Here is how this is going to go," Gunnar said, his voice deadly quiet. "You are going to tear up those custody papers and walk away. If you ever come near my son again, this entire database goes directly to the federal prosecutors."

The lawyer’s face drained of color as he stared at the screen. Without a word, he snatched the documents back, got into the SUV, and ordered the driver to speed away. The sheriff quickly followed, leaving the field in silence.

Gunnar turned around and knelt down, pulling Mickey into a tight, fierce embrace. The boy sobbed into his shoulder, finally safe. Gunnar looked up at his brothers, then down at the boy who had his eyes. He had lost years of his life to a lie, but he was finally home.

Sometimes, the road to redemption is paved with the truths we are finally brave enough to face.
