Esteban fell to his knees by the sterile hospital bed, taking Sarah’s cold, frail hand in his. Tears blurred his vision as he looked at the woman he had never stopped loving. Lily quietly slipped into the room, climbing onto the edge of the bed to hold her mother's other hand. The contrast between Esteban’s pristine wedding attire and the grim reality of the intensive care unit was stark.

"Why did you leave me, Sarah?" Esteban choked out, his voice thick with years of unresolved pain. "Why didn't you tell me we had a daughter?"

Sarah closed her eyes, a tear escaping down her pale cheek. She explained that seven years ago, she had discovered she was pregnant. But before she could tell Esteban, his wealthy mother and his then-girlfriend, Vanessa, had cornered her.
