A Maid Defends Her Employer's Wife, Only to Uncover a Shocking Family Secret
The Strike of Justice
The penthouse suite of the Grandview Towers was usually silent, save for the hum of the city below. Karen, a forty-year-old maid who had spent the last three years keeping the marble floors spotless, adjusted her black uniform and wrung out her mop. She was used to the cold, distant atmosphere of the home owned by Charles and Brenda. But tonight, the silence was shattered by a piercing scream.
Karen froze. The sound had come from the master bedroom. Dropping her bucket, she rushed down the hallway, her heart hammering against her ribs. The door was ajar, spilling the warm, glowing light of the crystal chandeliers into the corridor. She pushed it open and gasped at the horrific scene unfolding before her.
Charles, looking immaculate but monstrous in his tailored navy suit, had Brenda pinned near the vanity. His face was contorted in rage as he violently grabbed the hair of his wife, who was trembling in a plush pink bathrobe. Brenda screamed in terror, tears streaming down her pale face as she clawed uselessly at his iron grip.
"You will give me what I want, Brenda, or I swear you won't leave this room alive!" Charles roared.
In that split second, Karen didn't think about her job, her salary, or the immense power Charles wielded in the city. She only saw a woman in desperate need. Gripping the heavy wooden handle of her industrial mop, she stepped forward with all her might. With a fierce swing, Karen struck Charles squarely across the face.
The impact was loud and sudden. Charles’s head snapped back, his eyes rolling as he stumbled backward and collapsed flat onto the expensive carpet, knocked completely unconscious. Brenda covered her ears, sobbing in absolute shock, while Karen stood defiantly over the fallen tycoon, her chest heaving as she held her makeshift weapon ready for another blow.
