The clatter of heavy plates and the sizzle of the grill filled the air at the busy American diner. Seventeen-year-old Toby, wearing his charcoal kitchen t-shirt and black gloves, was wiping down the prep station. He was a quiet, hard-working kid who desperately needed this job to help his mother pay the rent. But the diner was run by Marcus, a bald, stern manager who cared only about speed and profit, never about people.

Suddenly, the bustling noise of the diner was pierced by a desperate, gasping sound. At a nearby booth, a young Caucasian boy in a bright orange hoodie named Leo was clawing at his throat. His face was turning a terrifying shade of blue. He was choking.

Toby didn't hesitate. Dropping his cleaning rag, he bolted toward the dining area. Behind him, Marcus’s harsh voice boomed over the noise of the kitchen.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going? Get back to work!"

Toby ignored his boss. He sprinted to the table, slid behind the panicked boy, locked his hands together, and performed the Heimlich maneuver with perfect precision. After three tense thrusts, a piece of hard candy flew out of Leo's mouth. The boy gasped, drawing in a deep, desperate breath of air as his father, Arthur, watched in sheer terror.

Before Toby could even ask if the boy was okay, a heavy hand slammed onto his shoulder. It was Marcus, his face twisted in anger.

"You abandoned your station during peak hours," Marcus hissed. "You're fired. Pack your things and get out."

Toby’s heart sank. He stood frozen, his eyes filling with tears at the thought of facing his mother. But before he could step away, Arthur, wearing a dark green jacket, grabbed Toby's arm gently. He pulled the teenager back and looked directly at Marcus. Then, Arthur held up his phone, dialing a number.

"This young man just saved a child's life," Arthur said into the phone, his voice steady and commanding. "Yes, this is Dr. Michael Carter. I need you to initiate the process immediately."
