Manager Fires Cook for Saving Choking Boy, Unaware of the Father’s True Identity
Previously: When a greedy diner manager fired his young prep cook for saving a choking child, he had no idea the boy's father held the power to change both of their lives forever.
The Power of a Name
The diner fell into a stunned silence as Philip's voice echoed through the dining room. Gregory scoffed, crossing his arms, still unaware of the storm that was about to hit him. "I don't care who you are, mister," Gregory muttered, trying to salvage his authority. "This kid is my employee, and he violated company policy by leaving the line. I run this place, and my word is law."
Philip didn't even look at the manager. He kept his focus on his phone, speaking clearly to the person on the other end. "I want the franchise owner of this diner on the line, and call our commercial real estate division. We are reviewing the lease agreement for this entire block immediately." Only then did Philip lower the phone, his gaze locking onto Gregory like a vice. The bald manager's smirk began to fade, replaced by a creeping sense of dread.
"You think you run this place?" Philip said, his voice deadly quiet. "My name is Dr. Philip Michael Carter. I am the chief of surgery at the medical center down the street, but more importantly, my family's trust owns this entire commercial plaza. I am your landlord, Gregory."
The color drained completely from Gregory's face. He began to stammer, his arrogant posture collapsing instantly. "Dr. Carter, please, I—I didn't realize... I was just trying to maintain kitchen safety protocols. You know how busy we get, and—"
"You stood by and watched a child suffocate while actively preventing your staff from saving him," Philip interrupted, his voice trembling with controlled rage. "That is not protocol. That is cowardice."
Hunter stood quietly in his charcoal grey t-shirt, still wearing his black prep gloves, watching the tables turn in real-time. For months, he and his coworkers had endured Gregory's verbal abuse and threats. Now, the bully was finally cornered. Philip turned to Hunter, his expression softening instantly. "Don't you dare pack your things, young man. You aren't going anywhere."
