Previously: Vanessa thought she had the Cavalli fortune locked in with a forged DNA report. She didn't count on my 7-year-old son pulling out the one piece of paper that destroyed her — and proved everything.

The Final Twist: The USB Drive Held a Confession That Broke Us All

Three days later, I received a letter from Vanessa's lawyer. It was a formal notice of a countersuit, claiming that I had defamed her and that the DNA report was 'a forgery of my own making.'

I laughed when I read it. But deep down, I knew she was desperate. And desperate people do stupid things.

I spent the next week preparing for the legal battle, but something kept nagging at me. The USB drive. I had only watched the first video. There were more files.

One night, after Lucas had gone to bed, I opened the drive again. There was a folder labeled 'Confession.' I clicked it, and a video began to play.

It was Vanessa, sitting in her apartment, her face tired and tear-streaked. She was talking to someone off-camera. 'I never meant for it to go this far,' she said. 'I just wanted to be part of the family. But Roman never looked at me the way he looked at her.'

Her. Lucas's mother. My late wife, Elena.

'She was everything,' Vanessa continued, her voice breaking. 'And she was the one who made me do it. She said if I helped her, she'd give me a share of the company.'

I sat up, my heart pounding. Elena? My wife, who died in a car accident two years ago? That made no sense.

I kept watching. Vanessa pulled a photo from her pocket. It was Elena, smiling at a party. 'She made me promise,' Vanessa said. 'She said the boy was hers, not Roman's. She wanted him cut out of the will.'

I felt sick. Was Lucas even my son? The DNA test said 99.9998% match. But what if it was faked? What if Elena had been lying to me all along?

I grabbed the phone and called my investigator. 'I need you to run a new test,' I said. 'A private one. No labs, no middlemen. Just the best in the country.'

The next day, I took Lucas to a clinic in another state. I didn't tell him why. I just said it was a routine checkup.

The results came back in 48 hours. When I opened the email, my hands were shaking. The number on the screen was the same: 99.9998% biological paternity.

Lucas was mine. Elena's confession was a lie. But why would Vanessa say it?

I went back to the USB drive and the confession file. I watched it again, and this time I noticed something. At the bottom of the screen, there was a timestamp. It was dated a month after Elena's death.

Vanessa had recorded this after Elena was gone. So who was she talking to? The camera was static, but I saw a shadow move in the corner. A man's silhouette.

I paused the video and zoomed in. The man stepped forward, and I recognized him instantly. My brother-in-law, Marco.

He was the one behind everything. He had coerced Vanessa into making that fake confession, and he had orchestrated the entire scheme to discredit Lucas and take over the company.

I had all the proof I needed. I called my lawyer and told him everything. We filed a criminal complaint against Marco and Vanessa, and within a week, they were both arrested.

At the trial, the judge looked at the evidence and threw out Vanessa's countersuit. She was convicted of fraud and bribery, and Marco received a longer sentence for conspiracy.

After the verdict, I took Lucas to the beach. We walked along the sand, the sun setting over the water. He looked up at me and asked, 'Dad, are we safe now?'

I hugged him tight. 'Yes, son. We're safe. And we're never going to let anyone take what's ours again.'

That night, I sat in the study, looking at the photo of Elena on my desk. I still loved her, but I couldn't forgive her for what she had almost done. But I had a new purpose now: to protect my son and honor the legacy my father built.

As I closed the lid of my laptop, I whispered to myself, 'The truth always finds a way.' And it did.
