Previously: A brutal assault in a VIP lounge escalates into a deadly confrontation. A powerful mafia don seeks revenge for his daughter, but the betrayal runs deeper than anyone imagined.

The Price of Defiance

The fragile truce shattered with a sickening crack. As Hannah bent to retrieve the spilled glass, Victoria Sterling erupted from her seat. It was a blur of motion, a high-velocity backhand that connected violently with Hannah's face. The sound was brutal, fleshy, and final. Hannah’s head snapped sideways, the tray flying from her grasp, champagne flutes exploding against the plush carpet. She stumbled backward, her body hitting a leather pillar, the sharp sting of blood in her mouth announcing a split lip. Her eyes, wide with shock, mirrored the terror that had just been unleashed. The meticulously crafted facade of the VIP lounge had been ripped away, revealing the raw brutality beneath.

“You don’t breathe near me without permission!” Victoria Sterling spat, her words laced with mocking venom.

Hannah could only press trembling fingers to her bruised cheek, tears streaming down her face, tasting the metallic tang of her own blood. She was paralyzed, unable to process the sudden, vicious assault. In the background, Salvatore Moretti moved with terrifying deliberation. He placed his porcelain cup onto its saucer with a sound that seemed to echo the finality of a death sentence. His stillness was more menacing than any roar. He rose to his full, imposing height, smoothing his cashmere lapels with a slow, precise movement. His arctic-blue eyes, usually sharp, now burned with an icy, homicidal fire. A deep shadow fell across the marble floor, cast by the man who commanded empires with a glance.

“Victoria. Look at her face,” Salvatore Moretti’s voice was a deep, bone-chilling murmur, each word precisely enunciated.

Victoria Sterling’s arrogant smirk froze. He swallowed hard, a dry lump of terror visible in his throat. Hannah, still trembling, could only stare in stunned disbelief. The air grew heavy, charged with an almost unbearable anticipation. The Don stepped forward, his predatory speed closing the distance between him and his lieutenant in an instant. Victoria stammered, a nervous defiance flickering in his eyes, but it was too late. He was trapped, cornered by the man he had dared to disrespect.

“Don Salvatore… she’s just a worthless girl—” Victoria began, his voice a trembling quaver.

Before the words could fully escape his lips, Salvatore’s scarred right hand shot forward, clamping around Victoria’s throat like an iron vise. His breath was cut off instantly, his body going rigid with shock and suffocation. Hannah watched, her eyes wide with a terror that eclipsed her own pain. The Don held Victoria suspended, his grip unwavering, the polished marble table inches from his lieutenant’s face.
