Arthur Sterling stepped forward from the crowd, pointing a stern finger at Julian. "Your contract with Sterling Financial is terminated, Julian. Effective immediately. We do not employ monsters who treat their spouses with such cruelty." A murmur of approval swept through the ballroom. Julian looked as if he had been struck, his head bowing as his world crumbled.

Clara looked down at the broken man.

"Vanguard Group has also bought out your firm's outstanding debt, Julian,"

she announced calmly. "I could ruin you completely. But I will not stoop to your level. Your forfeited company shares will be donated entirely to the physical rehabilitation center that helped me find my strength again."

Then, Clara did something that made the entire room hold its breath. She slowly placed the microphone on a nearby table. She gripped the polished wooden armrests of her wheelchair. With a deep, steadying breath, she stood up.

Julian’s jaw dropped. The crowd gasped. Clara stood tall and elegant in her shimmering gold gown. She had spent the last six months secretly undergoing grueling physical therapy, pushing through agonizing pain to regain her ability to walk. She had kept it a secret, hoping to surprise Julian—until she discovered his betrayal.

With slow, deliberate, and perfectly steady steps, Clara walked away from the wheelchair. She descended the grand marble staircase, her gold gown trailing behind her like a royal cape. She didn't even look at Julian as she passed him. He reached out to touch her hand, but she stepped gracefully out of his reach, walking directly toward the grand exit of the ballroom, her head held high.
