Previously: When Leo rushes into his father's funeral begging for one last look, his stepsister Maria refuses to open the casket. She claims it's a contagious disease—but the truth is far more terrifying.

The Truth Unveiled

Horrified realization washed over Leo. He didn't care about the alleged disease anymore; his father was fighting for his life inside that box. He grabbed a heavy brass candelabra from the mantlepiece. Just as Maria stepped back into the room, her eyes widening in horror, Leo slammed the heavy brass tool against the casket's padlock, shattering the brass latch with a resounding crack.

He threw the heavy lid open. There lay Arthur, pale and gasping, his hands bound and duct tape covering his mouth. Leo quickly tore the tape away, tears of anger and relief spilling over his cheeks.

"Dad! Oh my God, Dad!" Leo cried, quickly untying his father's wrists.

Arthur coughed, drawing in deep breaths of fresh air, and pointed a trembling finger at Maria, who was backing toward the door.

"She did this," Arthur gasped, his voice raspy. "She poisoned my tea to paralyze me, declared me dead, and locked me in here to steal the family trust before you could return. She was going to bury me alive!"

Maria turned to flee, but the heavy oak doors swung open. Two police officers, whom Leo had secretly contacted earlier due to Maria's bizarre and evasive text messages about their father's sudden 'illness,' blocked her path. They immediately handcuffed her as she shrieked in anger.

Leo wrapped his arms around his father, holding him close as the nightmare finally ended. Arthur looked at his son, his eyes filled with immense gratitude, knowing that only Leo's relentless love had saved him from a dark, silent grave. In the end, greed can construct the most elaborate traps, but the fierce bond of family will always find a way to break through the darkness.
